Two days after eight women were injured as stones were allegedly pelted at them in Haryana’s Nuh Thursday night, the Haryana State Women’s Commission wrote to the Superintendent of Police seeking a detailed action report.
According to the e-mail, the commission, citing a news report on the incident, said: “I would like to draw your attention to the article titled ‘Kua Pujan Kar Lot Rahi Mahilaon Par Shararti Tatvon Ne Kiya Pathrav, 9 Ghayal’ published in Dainik Bhaskar on the above-mentioned date. Given the seriousness of the matter involving mischievous elements targeting women performing Kua Pujan… I request prompt action on this issue. Considering the gravity of the case, as per Section 10(1) of the Haryana State Women’s Commission Act 2012, I urge you to initiate immediate proceedings and ensure a detailed action report is submitted to the commission within 3 days.”

SP (Nuh) Narendra Bijarnia had told The Indian Express the incident took place around 7.30 pm Thursday when the group of Dalit women had gone for Kuan Puja to celebrate the birth of a child in their family.
“An FIR has been registered under IPC sections 323 and 354, and sections of the SC/ST Act. Three minors have been rounded up and they will be produced before the Juvenile court. They threw stones and slippers at the women from the Badi Masjid madrasa in the town,” Bijarnia had said.
