China reports 157 new Covid cases on June 2 vs 129 a day earlier


BEIJING, – China reported 157 new coronavirus cases on June 2, of which 37 were symptomatic and 120 were asymptomatic, the National Health Commission said on Friday.
That compares with 129 new cases a day earlier – 37 symptomatic and 92 asymptomatic, which China counts separately.
There were no new deaths, bringing the nation’s death toll to 5,226.
As of June 2, mainland China had confirmed 224,208 cases with symptoms.
China’s capital Beijing reported eight new symptomatic cases, versus 11 a day earlier, and seven new asymptomatic cases versus three the previous day, according to the local government.
Shanghai reported eight new symptomatic cases, compared with five a day earlier, local government data showed. Asymptomatic cases in the city were unchanged at eight versus a day earlier.
