Finding like-minded teammates may become easier in Fortnite now. Epic Games is set to improve the battle royale game’s matchmaking and it aims to do that by introducing social tags for profiles. These social tags will serve as the indicators of the playstyle you employ and likewise, match you up with other players who could be more suited to be your teammates. You can select up to three social tags for other players to see which should help others players to get an idea about the role you bring to the team.
“You can choose tags that express your favourite game mode(s) (2v2, Deathrun, Free For All, etc.), your gameplay vibe(s) (Chill, Mic Off, Mic On, etc.), and your preferred competitive event(s) (Cosmetic Cup, Hype Cup, Lightning Cup, etc.). You’ll also be recommended Fortnite experiences based on your social tags.”, said Epic Games in a website post.
Adding social tags to your profile
To add the social tags, first click on your profile icon, then choose +Add Tag. After you have made the selection, go to the new ‘Looking For Party’ section from where you can send party invites and also receive them from players in your server region with matching tags.
You can also turn off Looking For Party (LFP) section off. When you do that, you’ll stop getting invites and also, your sent invites will be nullified.
For Duos, Trios, Squads, etc. the LFP section will be optional and players can use the normal invite system as usual.
Epic Games has made it clear that social tags and Looking For Party features are currently in testing and will be “incrementally rolled out to all players at a rate dependent on the test”.
