The Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) is set to prepare a masterplan for making Mumbai climate resilient by adopting a climate mitigation project.

In a post on X Tuesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that a team of experts from JICA visited the Love Grove pumping station and the Mithi River for inspection.

Additional Municipal Commisioner (Projects), P Velrasu and former municipal commissioner, Praveen Pardeshi briefed the JICA delegates about Mumbai’s flooding issues and the mitigation measures that the civic body has adopted in past few years.

Civic officials also said that this project is being conceived to tackle the climate change related adversities. The idea for adopting this project was proposed by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was in Japan during August this year.
