Comedian Vir Das made India proud by winning an International Emmy Award on Tuesday. The actor bagged the award for his Netflix special Vir Das: Landing. He dedicated his award to India in a heartwarming speech at the ceremony.
The actor shared a clip of his speech on X. Dedicating his award to India, Vir said, “More than anything else, I am here for India. I would like to thank you for your laughter. It is a symphony of love. It is an orchestra of freedom. It is a universal lyric that reminds us that we are not alone. And it is the soundtrack of this idiot’s life. May it play louder until the entire world dances with us. Thank you. Namaste, Jai Hind. Assalamualaikum. Sat Sri Akal. Love and Peace. Thank you.”
Along with Vir Das, India’s Shefali Shah and Jim Sarabh were also nominated for the International Emmys. Though they could not bag the trophy, Vir took to Twitter to shower praise on them. He wrote, “As we all know @ShefaliShah_ is a once in a generation talent and @jimSarbh is well on the same path. I could not have more admiration and respect for who they are, and their sublime craft. It was an honour to be nominated with them, learn from them, and witness their artistry. @iemmys.”

Producer Ekta Kapoor was also honoured with the prestigious Directorate Award at International Emmys. Author and screenwriter Anu Singh Choudhary, who was part of the 51st International Emmy Awards jury, shared details about the ceremony, calling it an unforgettable night for India.
She said, “Such a moment of pride to have the entire ballroom at the International Emmy’s award ceremony erupt into applause for India twice over – once when Ektaa Kapoor was handed over the Directorate Award by Deepak Chopra, and even more so when Vir Das was called upon the stage to receive the Comedy genre award.”
She added, “Both Ektaa and Vir dedicated their awards to India and Indians, making the moment so very special. Even though Shefali Shah and Jim Sarbh didn’t win the awards in the best actors categories, they were applauded and cheered by the audiences. Goes on to prove yet again that Indian stories and storytellers have become a force to reckon with.”
