Tamil actor Mansoor Ali Khan has refused to apologies for his objectionable comments about Trisha and other actors. Despite emphatic criticism of his statement, the actor announced in a press conference that he will not say sorry as there was nothing wrong with what he said. He claimed his statement was misconstrued.

In an earlier press interaction, the actor said that he has done many rape scenes with heroines in his career, but in Leo he was not even able to get a glimpse of his co-star Trisha. This shocked not just Tamil actors, but even Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi came down heavily as he criticised the statement. Nadigar Sangam (the South Indian Artistes’ Association) issued a temporary ban on the actor and the National Commission for Women took suo moto cognisance of the matter.

More controversial statements from Mansoor Ali Khan

The actor also issued an ultimatum to Nadigar Sangam to retract its temporary ban on him in four hours. He warned that the film body will face severe backlash if it fails to do so. “Nadigar Sangam has made an Himalayan mistake by banning me straight away without asking for a show-cause notice. They should have asked me to explain myself about the video. Does that how a case gets investigated in a court? I am giving four hours of time to Nadigar Sangam (to withdraw the ban). What have they said in the press release? I have to apologise before everyone. Do I belong to caste which apologises? I am acting with a lot of patience. If Nadigar Sangam doesn’t retract its ban, I will burst out like a volcano. The whole of Tamil Nadu is behind me.”

He added, “Trisha has said that I will not share screen space at all with me. But now all articles have my picture next to hers. I am happy that it has gotten to English media as well.”

Festive offer

“What is a rape scene in cinema? Does it involve real harassment? Shouldn’t all those Mutta *** (Tamil expletive) at Nadigar Sangam know at least such basic things. Are all those sitting there are Thiyaga Sigamanigal (noble beings)?” he said.

According to Mansoor Ali Khan, the video has been edited in a way to show him in a bad light. “I myself saw that video and was disgusted by it. I will take necessary steps agains the channels. Will not let it go.”

What’s the controversy?

Mansoor Ali Khan acted in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Leo, which had Vijay and Trisha in lead roles. Though Mansoor Ali Khan was part of the film, he didn’t have any scenes with Trisha. Speaking about the same, he said in a recent press meet, “When I heard that I was acting with Trisha, I thought there would be a bedroom scene in the film. I thought I would carry her to the bedroom just like I did with other actresses in my earlier movies. I have done so many rape scenes and it’s not new to me. But these guys didn’t even show Trisha to me on the sets during the shoot in Kashmir.”

Mansoor Ali Khan started out his career as a dancer and junior artiste. After his breakout role Veerabhadran in Vijayakanth’s superhit film Captain Prabhakaran (1991), he started to play antagonist roles in films of many leading stars including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and Vijay among others. He was last seen in a small role in Vijay’s Leo.
