Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal gets adults only certificate from CBFC, Sandeep Reddy Vanga reveals film’s duration | Bollywood News

The Animal is coming. Ranbir Kapoor’s latest action thriller Animal has been passed with an ‘A’ (adults only) certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), makers have revealed.

The film marks the first collaboration between Ranbir and filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for films like Arjun Reddy and its blockbuster Hindi remake Kabir Singh. Animal is touted to be a “violent” film which rides on a complex dynamic of a son, Ranbir Kapoor, obsessed with his father, played by Anil Kapoor.

While many in the trade had anticipated Animal getting an A certificate by the CBFC, what has come as a surprise is the film’s run-time, which is 3 hours 21 minutes. The duration of 200 minutes makes Animal one of the longest mainstream theatrical films to be released in recent times.

The runtime of close to three and a half hours will also impacts the film’s showcasing at cinema halls, as multiplexes have pre-film ads, interval and cleaning time, which would make its one show of nearly four-hour long taking into account everything.

If the film’s content clicks, Animal now has a shot to emerge as one the highest grossing adult-rated films in Bollywood. Currently, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 2019 Kabir Singh tops the list with Rs 278 cr, followed by The Kashmir Files and The Kerala Story at Rs 252 cr and Rs 242 cr respectively.

Animal also stars Bobby Deol as the main antagonist and features Rashmika Mandanna, Tripti Dimri, Shakti Kapoor among others. The film is gearing to release on December 1, and will clash at the box office with Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur.
