The lawyer representing Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena Thursday cross examined Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Sunil Prabhu — over the whip issued by him on June 22 last year to the Sena MLAs — for the third consecutive day Thursday during the hearing of Sena MLAs’ disqualification pleas

During the cross examination, Shinde-led Sena’s lawyer Mahesh Jethmalaani questioned Prabhu who was chief whip of undivided Sena in legislative assembly about how the whip was issued on June 21 and to all whom.

Narvekar had begun the cross examination on Tuesday. The next hearing will take place next week on November 28.

On Wednesday, Jethmalani had alleged that the whole case is based on the claim of whip issued by the Sena UBT and it was defied but no such whip was issued and the whip which Sena UBT is claiming to have been issued on Jun 21 to attend the meeting is forged one.

The cross examination over the whip issued to Sena MLAs holds a lot of significance since the Sena UBT has filed disqualification petitions against the Sena rebel MLAs claiming that the MLAs defied whip issued by Sena chief Whip to attend the meeting.

Festive offer

However, during the earlier hearing and in the submission last month, the Shinde-led Sena had claimed that they never received any whip as claimed by Sena UBT and hence there is no question of defying the whip and there is no question of disqualification.

Meanwhile, Prabhu alleged that Narvekar is indulging in  “unfair” procedure during the hearing.

Prabhu expressed the objection in writing saying that even as the cross examination had begun, the Sena UBT did not receive the affidavits of Shinde led Sena.
