Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, Rakesh Pal, who is on a four-day visit to the ICG North Western Region to chair the meeting of National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan (NOS DCP) and National Pollution Response Exercise (NATPOLREX), will oversee sea exercises carried out off the Vadinar coast in Jamnagar on November 25.

Pal will chair meetings at Vadinar that will see participation of senior government officials, various stakeholders from across the country and more than 25 representatives from foreign countries.

The sea exercises for NATPOLREX will have practical simulated exercises conducted by ships and aircraft. Indian Air Force transport aircraft is also taking part in the exercise along with other stakeholders like IOCL, Reliance, Nayara and Adani, among others.

The meetings have been planned considering the amount of oil handled by ports in Gulf of Kutch and sensitivity of the engulfed coast, said officials.
