Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan on Tuesday thanked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) for giving an opportunity to his son and nephews as mascots, who accompanied players at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

Pathan shared a photo on X of his son Imran and his nephews Ayaan and Raiyaan standing for the national anthem with India cricketers Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj.

“Witnessing my son Imran, and my nephews Ayaan and Raiyaan, standing proudly for the National Anthem on the field is a memory that will last a lifetime. Grateful to @ICC @BCCI for this unforgettable moment,” Pathan wrote.

“My kids (2 and 6 years old) standing proudly for National anthem,” a user wrote while sharing a photo of his children standing on the bed in front of the TV.

“Great to hear that, they’ll be future stars of India,” another commented. “I hope they will win a world cup for us in the future like you and yousuf have done it for India,” said another. “Proud moment for you and the kids, hoping to see them become the superstars like you and Yusuf Pathan,” wrote a third.

Irfan Pathan, who worked as a presenter at the World Cup, was seen doing an impromptu dance with Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan following their victory against Pakistan in Chennai. He was also seen shaking a leg with former teammate Harbhajan Singh in the studio after Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka.

Australia beat India by six wickets in the final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium to clinch the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday, a record-extending sixth title.
